As I sign with a distributor today for Black and Blue, I figured I’d share my 2011 film Buzzkill, which is available online in full for the first time. When it was originally released, YouTube had a 15 minute cap and 720p resolution. You can now enjoy the film in its entirety in glorious full HD.
While living in Ocean Beach, San Diego, Wes Davis and I were hanging at a mutual friend’s house he joked how he wanted to make a film about quitting coffee for 21 days and call it Buzzkill. I was fresh off Loose Change, I needed something to work on and I had a Panasonic HVX-200 so we decided to do the “break-up” on the upcoming Valentine’s Day.
There’s no mental breakdowns, he doesn’t smash anything, but he becomes considerably calmer and doles out a pile of life lessons along the way as he surfs, visits tea shops and spas, and interviews people about their caffeine habits. It’s a nice little hour that you can put on in the foreground or background and maybe see if you can go 21 days without something.
